We know that Botox and other neurotoxins paralyze muscles to minimize the face’s ability to create them, but what if you could get more out of your Botox by using it in combination with a treatment that also balances the whole body?
“Acupuncture increases energy flow in the body, which increases the rate of cellular turnover and circulation. At the same time, it also increases collagen and elastin production”
Acupuncture can retrain the muscles, which become lazy and tired with age and also suffer from a lack of nourishment—a result of sluggish circulation, energy flow, and nutrition.
But the idea isn’t just enhancing the outside. Acupuncture balances the body, so the “foundation” of health is there to support the “beauty” from inside and out. “For example, if you look tired and many lines are visible around your eyes, it’s important to balance your body so you can sleep well (it isn’t called beauty sleep for nothing!) and perhaps add something nutritionally to your diet (fish oils/water).”
But the big question is, how exactly does acupuncture specifically help in our anti-aging endeavors? Acupuncture can retrain the muscleswhich become lazy and tired with age and also suffer from a lack of nourishment—a result of sluggish circulation, energy flow, and nutrition. Of course, we’re also battling youth’s arch nemesis—gravity.
So acupuncture functions by stimulating muscles and nerves that communicate to the muscles. It’s an amazing partner to injections and fillers because acupuncture supports the maintenance and underlying issues of premature aging.
To make acupuncture work for you, here’s what you can expect:
The facial acupuncture protocols vary given what you are trying to accomplish. If you’re older and have lots of lines, we recommend twice weekly treatments (60 minutes each) for at least 6 weeks. Once you achieve your desired results, treatment drops to 2 maintenance visits within the following month, followed by a single monthly treatment for the next few months.
If you have fewer lines, you may require fewer treatments to achieve the results you’re after. Eventually, you can expect to simply have quarterly maintenance visits.
You can expect to arrive at the point where acupuncture treatments are on a quarterly schedule to help maintain your inner-outer beauty balance—a similar schedule for Botox injections. The difference between the two is that while Botox simply freezes the muscles, acupuncture supports the body from inside out. But that isn’t to say that they can’t be used synergistically. We focus on supporting muscle function to support the Botox.
It’s the classic case of 2 being better than 1. With acupunctureand energetic skincare, you are adopting a lifestyle that influences and supports lasting beauty from the inside out via lifestyle maintenance. Acupuncture supports the entire body to heal itself. And it goes well beyond wrinkles, helping with pain, psychological issues, weight loss, quality of sleep, and many other body issues. What’s not to love?
